September 2024

Dear friends and colleagues
,

The two articles in this newsletter are intended to give courage.
The courage to invigorate our pedagogical professions with commitment and creativity in the face of today's situation.
«“Braving the weather in stormy times» – this text is about pedagogical qualities, among other things: countering fear and fragmentation in everyday life through interest and a culture of relationships.
«Schools and kindergartens on the move» – this is an appeal
not to forget the importance of the pedagogical faculty meeting:
The lifelong learning of each teacher and the further development
of schools and kindergartens are essentially dependent on the quality of the weekly team meetings.

You will also find information about a video lecture series and new publications. And a warm invitation to teacher educators to take part in the International Teacher Education Forum (ITEF).

Kind regards from the Pedagogical Section team

Philipp Reubke

School and kindergarten on the move?

«Resist the fearful weakness of not moving, in petrifying moments and in killing the living!»
While children particularly enjoy movement and motion, this is not necessarily the case for adults. The endeavour to achieve inner mobility is a more or less popular lifelong task.
In his latest article, Philipp Reubke focuses on the pedagogical faculty meeting, which can support such further development.

Braving the weather in turbulent times

Some 300 years ago, Voltaire wrote: «Il faut cultiver notre jardin»
(we must cultivate our garden). For Trevor Mepham, this is a powerful message for our time too.

«Celebrations of a humanistic pedagogy»

In July 2024, the penultimate part of our seven-part lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» took place.

Constanza Kaliks and Peter Selg shed light
on Rudolf Steiner's lecture series «Anthroposophical Pedagogical Conference», which he gave in Arnhem in the Netherlands in 1924.

The event was recorded on video,
which you can watch here for free.

(You can find all previous episodes here.)

Safe the date

On 27 November 2024,
the seventh and thus last contribution to our lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» will take place.

Section leaders Constanza Kaliks, Philipp Reubke and Peter Selg will present lectures on Rudolf Steiner's last pedagogical course, which he held in Torquay, England, in 1924.

How the deepest pain turns into brotherhood

On 15 October 2024,
a discussion with Bassam Aramin from Palestine and Rami Elhanan from Israel will take place at the Goetheanum.
Both lost a child in the Middle East conflict.
Despite this heavy blow, they laugh together and call each other brothers. You can find out how this is possible live on site or via livestream.
