The anniversary of Rudolf Steiner's "Agriculture Course" is approaching and we are delighted to prepare it together with you. As a warm-up, we invite you to participate free of charge in our online course "Biodynamic Agriculture & Anthroposophy" with Ueli Hurter and Jean-Michel Florin from 27 November to 18 December 2023.

Another possibility for preparation is
our Summer Circular (in English, French and German). In addition to articles on biodynamic training, dynamic nutrition, biodynamic farms in Italy and the DOK trial, it contains Jean-Michel Florin's reflections on "Michaelic" thinking. Can we use the "Agriculture Course" as an instruction for "Michaelic" thinking about agriculture and thereby increasingly heal the earth?

In addition, the Summer Circular gives
insights into the new book by Rudi Bind and Ueli Hurter, "Biodynamic! The Hour of Birth of Biodynamic Agriculture at the Starting-point of the Ecological Movement". This illustrates the amazing history of the impact of the biodynamic impulse and supports the preparation for the anniversary. It is currently available in German. Lower fees – “How animals enhance health and resilience of the land”
Online course 4th–25th September
2023
Alysoun Bolger, Johannes Wirz and Jean-Michel Florin explore the diverse role of animals through three selected groups of animals, represented by the cow, the earthworm and the bee. What makes them so relevant for the health and resilience of a (farm) organism? Together we will explore different ways to promote biodiversity and create suitable spaces and conditions for animals so that they can fulfil their important role.

On-farm slaughter: animals’ stress hormones reduced by a factor of twenty
Article by Dr J. Peschke and L. Sprügel about the new study from A. Sprengler Neff et al. It is proven that animals killed on the farm had twenty times less cortisol (stress hormone) in their blood than in the slaughterhouse. On-farm slaughter is therefore not only more animal-friendly, but it also increases meat quality. Since July 2020, farmyard and pasture slaughter has been permitted in Switzerland under certain conditions. Around 100 Swiss farms have received approval for this – and interest in it is growing! Farm and pasture slaughter in the EU has been permitted under certain conditions since March 2021.

Als Einstimmung laden wir euch herzlich ein, kostenlos an unserem Onlinekurs «Biodynamic Agriculture & Anthroposophy» mit Ueli Hurter und Jean-Michel Florin teilzunehmen, vom 27. November bis 18. Beitragsvorschläge für die Landwirtschaftliche Tagung 2024 einreichen Einige Vorschläge für Beiträge zur Jubiläumstagung vom 7. bis 10. Februar 2024 sind bereits bei uns eingetroffen. Dafür danken wir herzlich! Jedoch sind noch nicht alle Workshops und Open Spaces besetzt. Deshalb zögert nicht, uns bis zum 31. August 2023 weitere Vorschläge zu schicken.

Wie Tiere die Gesundheit und Widerstandsfähigkeit des Bodens verbessern
Onlinekurs 4.–26. September 2023 Alysoun Bolger, Johannes Wirz und Jean-Michel Florin erforschen die vielfältige Rolle der Tiere anhand von Kühen, Bienen und Regenwürmern. Was macht sie so wichtig für die Gesundheit und Widerstandsfähigkeit eines (landwirtschaftlichen) Organismus?
Gemeinsam werden wir verschiedene Möglichkeiten erkunden, um die Artenvielfalt und Schaffung geeigneter Räume und
Bedingungen für Tiere zu fördern, damit sie ihre wichtige Rolle erfüllen können. Die Kurssprache ist Englisch.

Hoftötung: Zwanzigmal weniger Stresshormone bei den Tieren
Dr. J. Peschkes und L. Sprügels Artikel zur neuen Studie von A. Sprengler Neff et al.Auf dem Hof getötete Tiere haben nachweislich zwanzigmal weniger Cortisol (Stresshormon) im Blut als bei einer Tötung im Schlachthof. Die Hoftötung ist somit nicht nur tierfreundlicher, sondern sie erhöht auch die Fleischqualität. Seit Juli 2020 ist die Hof- und Weideschlachtung in der Schweiz unter bestimmten Bedingungen erlaubt. Rund 100 Schweizer Betriebe haben dafür eine Zulassung erhalten – und das Interesse daran wächst! In der EU ist die Hof- und Weideschlachtung seit März 2021
unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen erlaubt.

Folge 9 des Living Farms Podcast ist sehr persönlich. Rosalyn Scottland, eine Landwirtin in Devon, England, zeigt uns ihren Weg zur Biodynamik und erklärt, warum die biodynamische Landwirtschaft das Leben verändern kann.
