Dear Friends,
In October, the team at the Section finalized the remaining elements of the Agriculture Conference and is pleased to announce that the conference is now open
for registration. In addition to the plenary sessions, there are 50 different activities to choose from, in particular 16 Workshops, 12 Artistic Courses, and 22 Open Spaces including meetings of the Professional Groups and guided tours at the Goetheanum. The digital part of the conference is also available for registration and allows participants to experience the plenary sessions at the Goetheanum as well as participate in digital contributions. In total, more than 90 speakers have announced their attendance, in order to dedicate themselves to a reflection on agriculture and biodynamics as a cultural impulse, and to prepare for the future questions in our movement.

Together we will explore the basics of conversion, the International Demeter
Biodynamic Standards, Demeter Certification, and the roles and responsibilities of an advisor in the conversion process. In addition to theoretical input and sharing in small groups, you will engage in various self-study activities and create your own conversion plan. Reto Ingold, the course leader, will support your learning with his long experience as an international advisor, trainer and mentor.

Short report on the last online course:
“The farm organism for planetary health” The fourth online course run by the Section for Agriculture has been successfully completed with 17 participants from East to West and North to South. Theoretical sessions about the different elements in the farm organism (plants, soil, animals and human beings) and the impacts of farming practices on planetary health alternated with practical exercise sessions. The dynamics of the course, abundant further reading material, lively discussions and new experiences led to satisfied participants, course leaders and organisers.

An Italian research team from the University of Florence headed by Margherita Santoni analysed 147 publications on biodynamic agriculture and have produced an up-to-date overview. The aim of the study was to critically examine international publications on biodynamic agriculture from 1985 onwards. The study concluded that biodynamic methods can provide benefits in comparison to conventional agricultural methods, particularly for soil quality and biodiversity.

For Dr. Jasmin Peschke appreciating food is an improtant step towards the avoidance of waste. Around 1.3 billion tons of food are thrown away globally every year – a third of the entire annual food production. Each food item has a history and each item that is thrown away although there is nothing wrong with it could help those who are starving.

Im Oktober finalisierte das Sektionsteam die Zusammenstellung der einzelnen Tagungselemente und freut sich, die Landwirtschaftliche Tagung 2023 nun für die Anmeldung zu öffnen. Neben den Plenarbeiträgen stehen 50 verschiedene Veranstaltungen zur Auswahl, darunter 16 Workshops, 12 künstlerische Kurse und 22 Open Spaces mit Fach- und Berufsgruppentreffen sowie Führungen. Auch der digitale Teil der Tagung steht zur
Anmeldung bereit und ermöglicht es, sowohl den Plenarveranstaltungen am Goetheanum beizuwohnen als auch an digitalen Beiträgen teilzunehmen. Insgesamt haben sich über 90 Referent:innen angekündigt, um sich einer umfassenden Rückschau auf die Wirkungsgeschichte der Landwirtschaft sowie der Biodynamik als Kulturimpuls zu widmen und vorbereitend auf die Zukunftsfragen in unserer Bewegung hinzuarbeiten.

Conference 2022
Learning Biodynamics as a Path of Transformation
Die ersten Treffen für biodynamische Ausbilder:innen und Berater:innen in Asien und Afrika sind vorbei – und gemäß den ersten Rückmeldungen waren sie ein voller Erfolg! Bereits jetzt wünschen sich die Teilnehmenden künftig regelmäßige Treffen dieser Art. Ein großes Dankeschön an alle Organisator:innen, freiwilligen Mitgestalter:innen und Sponsor:innen! Wir sind sehr froh und dankbar, dass die beiden Konferenzen stattfinden konnten.

Online-Kurs für biologisch-dynamische Berater:innen: Beratung für ein Umstellungsprojekt (für Demeter-Zertifizierung)
Gemeinsam werden wir uns mit den Grundlagen der Umstellung, den internationalen Demeter-Richtlinien, der Demeter-Zertifizierung und der Rolle und Verantwortung einer Beraterin oder eines Beraters im Umstellungsprozess beschäftigen. Neben theoretischen Inputs und dem Austausch in Kleingruppen werden Sie verschiedene Aktivitäten zum Selbststudium durchführen und Ihren eigenen Umstellungsplan erstellen. Reto Ingold, der Kursleiter, wird Sie mit seiner langjährigen Erfahrung als internationaler Berater, Trainer und Mentor unterstützen.

Bericht über den letzten Online-Kurs:
The farm organism for planetary health Der vierte Online-Kurs der Sektion für Landwirtschaft wurde mit 17 Teilnehmenden aus der ganzen Welt abgeschlossen. Theoretische Sitzungen über die verschiedenen Elemente des landwirtschaftlichen Organismus (Pflanzen, Boden, Tiere und Menschen) und die Auswirkungen der landwirtschaftlichen Praktiken auf die Gesundheit des Planeten wechselten sich mit praktischen Übungen ab. Die Dynamik des Kurses, reichlich weiterführendes Lesematerial, lebhafte Diskussionen und neue Erfahrungen führten zu zufriedenen Teilnehmenden, Kursleitenden und Organisator:innen.

Daraus entstanden ist eine aktuelle Übersichtsstudie. Ziel der Studie ist eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit internationalen Veröffentlichungen der biodynamischen Landwirtschaft seit 1985. Die Studie kommt zu dem Schluss, dass die biodynamische Methode vor allem im Bereich Bodenqualität und Biodiversität Vorteile verspricht im Vergleich mit konventionellen landwirtschaftlichen Methoden.

Für Dr. Jasmin Peschke ist Wertschätzung von Lebensmitteln ein erster Schritt gegen Verschwendung. Rund 1,3 Milliarden Tonnen Lebensmittel werden weltweit jährlich weggeworfen – das entspricht einem Drittel der jährlichen Nahrungsmittelerzeugung weltweit. Hinter jedem Lebensmittel steckt eine Geschichte – und jedes unverdorben weggeworfene Lebensmittel könnte hungernde
Menschen versorgen.
