Going homeward

Dear friends of the Youth Section Worldwide,

The past three months the world witnessed a movement of people going homeward. For the first time in history, the biggest part of humanity was traveling ‘home’. Some from abroad, others from their workplace to a home office. We went homeward after hundreds of years ‘exploring’ and ‘conquering’ the world. But this time, something was different than a regular returning home. An immediate common global consciousness was the very reason for going and nobody was left behind in sharing an overarching image of being connected as one humanity. It might sound cliche, but this can become the landmark for the century to come; people will speak of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ corona era.

The climate and corona crises are likely to redefine our definition of home, extending it to planet earth and humanity as a whole. Also the current social debate concerning the 'Black Lives Matter' movement lies at the core of redefining home. We do not only breath the same air, drink the same water and see the same sky, but we experience that our immune systems are interconnected more than we could have ever imagined. What does a collective consciousness like this trigger in an over individualised society?

One of the things might definitely be call for action to build new narratives about what we will and want to become. The past weeks and months we hosted several gatherings — online — as starting points to explore this question. On the 3rd of June we began a six month research collaboration via Zoom with everybody that wanted to join in. Down below you will read about this and other news.

We wish you a wonderful start of summer or winter in the coming month,

Johannes Kronenberg, Andrea de la Cruz, Ioana Viscrianu and

New Youth Section logo & website

About 20 years ago the Youth Section got a first logo co-designed by Jesse Osmer and the team back then. We wanted to work on a new logo design that would not leave the former one behind, but rather transform into something that would communicate the current work ethos and shape of the Youth Section. You will find an image of the former logo down below next to the new one, to be able to follow the process of transformation. We would like to thank Frank Agrama from the North American Youth Section for his help in this process!

Additionally we have been working on a new website in collaboration with Tim Bauer - who will join the Youth Section from September 2020 for the preparation of the International Students Conference 2021. You can visit the new site through the same link as before: www.youthsection.org

When words become action
by Andrea de la Cruz

The Youth Section Worldwide is connecting once a month for the next half of 2020 to (Re)Search how we envision the future post-pandemic, and how to become agents of the changes we wish to see in the world. In the spirit of our research, the next 6 months will focus on living with questions and shaping initiatives out of the findings that arise from our asking. The Youth Section at the Goetheanum will act as the facilitators and gatherers of young people’s voices. The process will culminate in December at our Research Colloquium, where we will present the results achieved.

New Relationships
by Omer Eilam

Some nights ago I was watching a performance of Pink Floyd from 1995. I could hardly listen to the music and was much more conscious of the spectacle. Everything was larger than life: the hall, thousands of people in the audience, a huge video screen, light shows, lasers, a flying dummy plane crashing, etcetera. It all seems so foreign now, after merely two months of Corona, but it makes me wonder if this image will ever reappear or whether it is just an echo from the past.

Open letter
from Noel Norbron

Dear Youth Section,
Dear people of the Goetheanum,

What I am writing now may seem a little incoherent, it is a kind of stream of thoughts about the things that are very important to me at the moment. It is so important right now, in our present situation, that we do not allow ourselves to be petrified! With all the habits that are becoming established and the prosperity that has become normal, it happens quickly that we fall asleep and - Corona also contributes to this on the one hand - to fall into waiting inactivity.

"BREATHING WITH THE CLIMATE CRISIS"

11 - 14 February 2021 at the Goetheanum

A gathering where farmers and youth meet on common soil.
The signs reaching humanity from Earth are touching the foundations of our very existence. The climate crisis with the destruction of the earth’s living forces, the social disruptions, and the loss of cultural and spiritual foundations are speaking to our global civilisation. It seems that it is not the human being himself who evokes this call of awakening, but the very environment around us. How can we breath, listen and see beyond this moment of crisis? How to act out of understanding in order to heal the lands, our common life and find a morality based on establishing our individuality in relationship to others and the world?

This call demands new stories and views to overcome fear and polarisation. In this endeavour the Agricultural Section and the Youth Section at the Goetheanum - School of Spiritual Science will work together to see how youth-striving, the wisdom of the lands and an understanding of our health can contribute to the grand paradigm shift of the time we live in. Practical experiences, natural science and spiritual science will be the guiding principles in this encounter.
More information will follow soon!

With best greetings on behalf of the
Section for Agricultural and the Youth Section at the Goetheanum,
Ueli Hurter and Constanza Kaliks

FROM OUR FRIENDS AND NETWORK

Call for help from Teo Marin

Dear  Friends,

My name is Teo (a BioDynamic gardener) and recently I had the inspiration to write. I was on a train from a farm in Bulgaria and just started writing on my tablet out of the blue. When I arrived home the writing continued and when I turned around I saw that in front of me there were 7 little books for children that assembled themselves. The themes are based on the Spiritual Scientific view and are managed in a 7 fold complexity, gathered in a lyrical play for the imagination of the child, but involving the consciousness of the reader (parent or teacher). The books are for youngest to 8-9 of age I would say.

Now, I have a question towards the audience reading this, I'm looking for someone willing to be the artist of these little booklets. I would love to see drawing/paintings of the Anthroposophical style of drawing/painting on the covers and contents of the book. That is the other half of the finishing touch in my opinion, the presentation of these "ideas", the involvement of the soul of the reader with the images. If you are someone interested in reading them to make up your mind, or you know someone that will be appropriate for the task, please contact me via this email "jcheetah@abv.bg".
