What would the world look like in 2030 if what lives within you becomes a reality, and what will you do to make it happen?

Dear friends of the Youth Section Worldwide,

It is with great joy that we share with you the first report of our on-going research project. Since 2017, we have had the pleasure to interview young people from around the world and now, we have created this short publication to reflect on the process and the initial observations. Below you can access the free download of the report. Some copies will be available in print if requested.

(Re)Search now continues in a new phase of analysis to deepen on the subjects arising from our coming together in deep human encounter. In the upcoming months, the team will publish more articles and present at various gatherings and events. We hope to see you at one of them and hear your thoughts!

With our best wishes for a happy Easter,

The Spiritual Striving of Youth: Shaping our Reality

First research report, April 2019

(Re)Search is a youth-led social study seeking to understand the longings, questions and motivations guiding young people's actions today. Inspired by the testimonies of 40 young people from around the world, this first publication reports on these young people's ideas on a variety of topics, such as education, spirituality, relationships and cultural identity.

First observations are complemented with an account of the qualitative methodologies used for the study, as well as the young researchers' experiences in dealing with the frame question of the study:

The project in numbers:

Listening to young people

“Now I understand and recognise that it is all a process. [...] And this helps me to be human! Human being is a process [...] I am on the way to be human.”
Female, 26, Russia

“I don’t define myself as if I was from a specific part of the world because I feel from the whole world. And this is something that I still haven’t come to understand, perhaps because of the innocence of my age, but I haven’t come to understand why the world thinks that we are all so different when we are all part of the same.”
Female, 18, Bolivia

“I am only in as much as I am with another. If I am not with the other, I don't know who I am. ”
Male, 30, Mixed Nationalities

"Living Questions in a Time of Conscious Becoming"

24-25 May

Emerson College, England

You are all warmly invited to participate in the first UK sharing of insights from “(Re)Search: The Spiritual Striving of Youth – Defining Our Reality”, a research project carried out by the Youth Section at the Goetheanum.

The gathering will take participants through the research team’s journey to find suitable questions and approaches to qualitative social research in connection to spiritual science.

We would like to share how, through a living methodology based on openness, trust and an honest interest in human dialogue, it was possible to unveil young people’s current perspectives on topics such as education, relationships and spirituality. We will also talk about the questions living in us today, how these are being explored and the experience of “Conscious Becoming”, a fascinating phenomenon arising from the project participants’ testimonies.

Everyone attending this sharing is encouraged to bring their own questions to the gathering, as to enable an active dialogue during the meeting. We look forward to meeting you there!
