RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM
Goetheanum, Dornach, Switzerland

Dear friends,

The Research Team of the Goetheanum’s Youth Section invites you to join us for a day’s long gathering where we will present the first results of (Re)Search: The Spiritual Striving of Youth – Defining Our Reality.

For the past year, a young team of researchers has looked into young people’s motivations, wishes and impulses for the future in order to understand what drives us forward and how we approach individual and collective issues. Our research question "What would the world look like in 2030 if what lives within me becomes a reality and what will I do to make it happen?" has served us as a frame to look into inner, outer, past and present experiences of the individual participants who volunteered to be interviewed for the study.

More than 80 hours of recorded conversation with 40 participants aged 18-35 from 23 different countries, have provided us with real food for thought and some initial insights about how the young people surrounding the Youth Section live and experience themselves and the world.

The project is bound to continue with deeper analysis and more publications aligned for the future but for now, we would like to share some of our insights regarding the following questions:

  • What do we speak about when invited freely to define our life experiences, and how does this help us form a picture about the way in which young people experience reality?

  • How do we define our identity based on our experiences of education, relationships, profession, family background, upbringing and our wishes and aspirations for the future?

  • How do young people today relate to spiritual questions and seek to explore them further? How does this impact individual choice and will?
We will explore these and many other questions by sharing with you what young people have told us during this long, beautiful and inspiring journey.

Are you too excited about knowing more and cannot wait until December? You can listen to this Podcast with Laura Scapatticci and Andrea: "The Anthroposopher: The Spiritual Striving of Youth"

The participation for the colloquium is free. If you intend to come or have questions please contact Andrea at andrea@youthsection.org. If you want to stay longer in Dornach write Ronja and Till, in order to check the availability in the House of the Youth Section house@youthsection.org

Depending on the requirements of the participants, the colloquium can take place in English, German and Spanish.
We hope to see you all there!

With best wishes,

The Youth Section’s Research Team,
Andrea de la Cruz, Ioana Viscrianu, Constanza Kaliks

FEBRUARY DAYS 2019

"Art & Spirit: the role of the arts today"
Goetheanum, Dornach, Switzerland

"We must become artists, not by developing symbolism or allegory, but by rising, through spiritual knowledge, more and more into the spiritual world."

Rudolf Steiner

The arts and their mission, GA 276

From January 31st to February 3rd the theme Art and Spirit will bring us together at the Goetheanum to discuss and explore questions concerning different practices of art and the role it fulfills today.

Where do we find the spiritual in art?

How do art, science and spirituality relate to each other?

Where do we find the artists of today?

Where does the artistic impulse in the human being come from?

What purpose does it serve?

These and many other questions will be at the centre of our lectures, workshops, conversations and other activities that will help us to think about the task of art in the path of knowledge, and how the spiritual aspect of it can be a contributory factor to a real social transformation.

February Days is an annual conference organized by members of the Youth Section to explore questions about Rudolf Steiner’s impulse and its meaning in present times.

Registration for the conference will open in the next few weeks through the Goetheanum's website. Soon you will receive details of the registration process, including ticket costs, full event programme and information on accommodation. For now, save the date and start planning your trip to Dornach. We hope to see you and your friends here!

If you have any questions please get in touch with Andrea via email: andrea@youthsection.org

We look forward to seeing you soon!
