«The power and necessity of new beginnings that arise when people pay attention to the reality of the other and the others...» is what
Constanza Kaliks writes about in her report on a large conference
of the Brazilian Waldorf School Movement.
«Only by living in the diversity of religions does the consciousness of a universal humanity emerge. Therefore, young people should get to know and appreciate each of these religions, especially at Waldorf schools with their international spread», writes Albert Schmelzer in his contribution on interculturality.
Furthermore, we would like to use this newsletter to remind you once again
of the following initiatives of the Pedagogical Section:
On 12 October 2023 the lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» continues with contributions to Rudolf Steiner's summer course in Ilkley, Northern England. (For more info see contribution below)
From 18 to 21 April 2024 the International Trainers' Conference will take place at the Goetheanum. Teachers of Waldorf education can discuss important questions of training in advance in monthly meetings of the «International Teacher Education Project» (ITEP) on Zoom.
With warm greetings from the Pedagogical Section at the Goetheanum Philipp Reubke
Inspirations for new forces
At the Goetheanum and around the world, many people trust that intensified attention will generate new forces for the work in anthroposophical institutions – in memory of the founding impulses, in the face of today's challenges and with an «awake heart».
Waldorf education is above all about the fact that an attitude of genuine love for human beings should enter into the teaching. The different religions invite us to develop different aspects of being human; only living into their diversity establishes the consciousness of a universal humanity. For this reason, young people should get to know and appreciate each of these religions. Read here the articleby Albert Schmelzer.
Dates for the next
ITEP meetings
Each month, those involved in the training of teachers at Waldorf/ Steiner schools meet again on Zoom to exchange information on the ITEP guidelines across countries. Interested students and teachers are welcome to participate.
Our lecture series «Celebrations of a Humanistic Pedagogy» is going into the third round.
On 12 October, Constanza Kaliks, Philipp Reubke and Peter Selg, heads of the Anthroposophical Pedagogical Section and General Section, will shed light on the pedagogical courses that Rudolf Steiner gave from 5 to 17 August 1923 in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, in the north of England.
All three will once again focus on the context, essence and topicality of Steiner's centenary lectures, published under the title «Education and Modern Spiritual Life» (GA 307).
The event will take place online.
